Aston, the partner for Roseland Property Company, and the outside equity partners were able to develop the site into 225 apartment homes, a 7,000 square foot clubhouse, 16,000 square feet of retail and 421 parking spaces. The majority of the parking spaces are located in the garage. The total development cost was approximately $45 million. The City of Norfolk was a very active partner in this process offering numerous concessions for a successful urban development.
Today, the property is known as 201 Twenty One. It is a four-story elevator served urban building built around a large courtyard. The project is urban in every element. The development has a density of approximately 75 units per acre. The current rents of $1.65 per foot represent some of the highest known apartment home rents in all of Hampton Roads.
